Oak Orchard Review is named for a river which flows through various towns and hamlets of Genesee and Orleans County. More than simply a body of water, a river is a thing that sustains, connects, and nourishes the land, the body, and the spirit. Our journal is meant to similarly sustain its artists, authors, and readers. We seek writers and artists who feel a physical or emotional connection to the Western New York region, and who are compelled to share their poetry, stories, artwork, and photography. It is our mission to inspire and connect with our readers; to showcase Western New York's most talented and inspiring artists and writers; to promote artistic endeavors in our community; and to encourage and recognize emerging artists and writers.
Local Spotlight - Jennifer Ohar Scott
Our featured artist for this issue is our very own Art Editor, Jennifer Ohar Scott. Her work was recently selected to be featured in the 464 Gallery, located at 464 Amherst Street, Buffalo, NY, where it will be on display until June 12th. Her painting "For the Love of Learning: Students First" was the artwork that earned her an upcoming artist's reception at the gallery, slotted for June 6, 2014 from 6-10 PM. Her work can be seen at the 464 Gallery website.
The Editors at Oak Orchard Review are delighted to spread the word about Scott's artistic success.
