Fran Thomas

Francis Thomas' poem, "The Porch" has been selected for publication. Fran has been a special education teacher at Oakfield-Alabama High School for the past 27 years. He married into a family of writers, wife Peggy Thomas (author of 19 books), mother-in-law Margery Facklam (author of over 40 books) and brother-in-law Paul Facklam (illustrator of numerous books). At the launching of the second issue of "Oak Orchard Review", Fran was inspired by his wife's ability to move an audience with her words. The very next morning he sat and thought about his favorite pastime of relaxing on the porch and watching the world go by. Peggy said that she was very moved by the poem as it speaks of her shared passion. Fran also sings with the Middleport Community Choir, the Genesee Chorale, and recently joined the Middleport Bell Tones. He and his wife of 30 years live happily with their two dogs, and 5 cats. (Must be a poem in there somewhere. Let him know when chaos is the theme.).
